Open Source is becoming more and more popular but still lots of people are unaware of the existence and the benefits, such as: - Freedom and Control - Costs - Security
Open Source companies and the community often have no budgets for big marketing campaigns and these also would not fit in with the ideas behind the free software movement. In fact, if more money is spent on marketing than on software development, a company should ask it self what the point is of their existence.
This does not mean that open source can not compete with the big companies. If the end users would take a responsability in the marketing proces, great power could be created. This course describes what can be done by the end user, from simple things that take little time and effort to more complicated and time consuming things. If you are a happy user of open source software and you want to return a favor to the open source community, you are welcome to join this course and discover what you can do.
